is located in beautiful Hancock, Wisconsin, in a region made famous by conservationist Aldo Leopold's Sand County Almanac. The house plays a unique role in the area's history. It was constructed in 1910 by Charles Walker, owner of Hancock's bank and department store. Unfortunately Mr. Walker was only able to enjoy the estate for a short period before his untimely death in 1916 from an infected tooth. Due to his stature in the community this regal home then played host to a grand funeral procession. After passing down a walkway lined with friends and admirers holding flowers, Mr. Walker was escorted in a caravan of 75 automobiles, an unheard of event in these early times. After passing through a number of hands the Walker House has now become a retreat for travelers. The rich history continues with Mike and Sue Dietz purchasing the home in 2004 to fulfill their dream of welcoming guests to their own bed and breakfast.
